I am extremely thrilled to share with my LinkedIn fraternity that I have recently added yet another major industrial project to my diverse portfolio. This time, I had the opportunity to lead the Major Overhauling (72,000 Running Hours) of a Waukesha 12V275GL+ Engine at MOL Pakistan Oil and Gas Company. The engine in question is used in a power generation package that powers the whole MGPF facility. This project came with its own set of challenges, as it was the first-ever on-site major overhaul of this engine model. The assignment demanded meticulous planning, strong coordination, and seamless execution. The scope involved: 1. Arranging heavy lifting equipment, including a 160-ton crane for engine lifting and re-installation 2. Managing smaller cranes for dismantling and assembly activities 3. Coordinating transportation of critical components (cylinder heads, turbochargers, aftercooler, etc.) to Orient Energy Services Pvt. Ltd. (Lahore) for refurbishment 4. Ensuring E&I support, including proper lighting arrangements 5. Close coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure uninterrupted progress Beyond planning and logistics, a key aspect of my role was closely supervising my internal team and the contractor team (OESPL) to ensure: - Smooth execution - Timely completion - Ensuring availability of tools and spares - Adherence to the highest standards of work quality Key challenges during the project included: 1. First-Ever MOH of the Waukesha 12V275GL+ engine on-site 2. Engine block tilting for crankshaft removal and reinstallation 3. Managing workforce health and fatigue during the holy month of Ramadan 4. Limited working hours 5. Unavailability of stand-by power generator These challenges were addressed through proper arrangements, intelligent workforce allocation, and effective shift planning (day/night) with clearly defined targets to ensure productive time utilization. Furthermore, the other two in-service power generation units were closely monitored to ensure uptime. Successfully delivering this project was a result of teamwork, resilience, and disciplined execution under challenging conditions.
