Oracle. $165 Billion. New Mexico 🏗ï¸ IT'S OFFICIAL: Oracle is the anchor tenant for Project Jupiter - a mind-boggling $165 billion AI campus in New Mexico. We are talking over 1,400 acres in Doña Ana County, purpose-built to house the infrastructure behind OpenAI. But the eye-watering price tag isn't even the most interesting part. The real story is about the Utility-Independent model: Instead of waiting on the grid, they’re bringing the grid with them. ⚡ On-site natural gas generation & a dedicated microgrid. 🔋 Massive battery storage + a private substation. 💧 Zero-water draw (Closed-loop cooling to protect local resources). We are now seeing a massive shift where big tech is effectively becoming its own power company. Aside from the tech, the local impact is going to be astronomical: ▪ï¸ 4,000 construction jobs ▪ï¸ $600M in tax revenue, ▪ï¸ $320M headed straight to New Mexico schools. The question I would like to put to my network: Is the self-funded microgrid the only way forward for AI? Or ... Can the traditional utility model still keep up with 5GW+ demands? (I am not to sure it can 🫣) #Oracle #OpenAI #StackInfrastructure #ProjectJupiter #DataCenterConstruction #EnergyTransition #AIInfrastructure
