**Key Insight:** The article discusses the challenges and opportunities presented by the EU's Recovery Plan for heating, particularly in Slovakia. It highlights the need to decarbonize district heating and reduce dependence on expensive gas and oil.

Where is Slovakia heading and how do we want to reduce dependence on expensive gas and oil? EU funds are not used for investments for which they were not intended. Let me give an example: In 2024-2025, several funding schemes were announced from the Recovery Plan for: - decarbonization of district heating, - large heat pumps, - modernization of heat sources, - connection of district heating with renewable energy sources, - use of geothermal energy, - reconstruction of district heating distribution networks. I participated in projects that were supposed to be funded from the above-mentioned calls, but the situation is that none of these calls are open. There is no money to pay the work of many designers, decarbonization is not taking place, experts are leaving abroad... In the field of heating, only one call was opened to support the construction of combined heat and power generation based on natural gas and the reconstruction of heat distribution from heating plants, which are overwhelmingly fed by gas. At a time when all reasonable people are trying to be independent of oil and gas... And then our prime minister, whom the entire professional community is ashamed of, starts blackmailing the EU to allow us to buy gas and oil from Russia and pretends to be our savior...

GasGx Editorial Insight

This source highlights a shift from checkbox compliance to verifiable data integrity.

For gas-powered mining operators, reporting should reconcile SCADA telemetry, fuel usage, power output, and emissions factors with an auditable data trail.

Operational priority: keep reproducible calculation logic, immutable raw-data snapshots, and exception logs for corrected records before filing compliance reports.
