🌞 Exciting progress from Xinjiang! https://lnkd.in/eE_wqPaB On March 26, the natural gas ignition for preheating and salt melting of the molten salt storage system was successfully completed on the first attempt at the 100 MW CSP project in Bortala, Xinjiang, developed by Xinhua Hydropower Co., Ltd.. 🔥 As the core of the thermal storage system, the molten salt tank (32.5 m in diameter and 14.5 m in height, with a capacity of ~12,000 tonnes) is designed to operate at up to 590°C, enabling long-duration energy storage and stable renewable power generation. 🚀 This milestone marks a key step in the commissioning phase, laying a solid foundation for the next stage of operation. The project will continue ramping up to over 350°C in the coming days, preparing for molten salt filling and full system integration. ☀ï¸ Adopting a tower CSP + molten salt storage configuration, the project will feature 13,402 heliostats, delivering clean electricity around the clock. Once operational, it is expected to generate 2.04 billion kWh annually, saving 622,400 tonnes of standard coal and reducing CO₂ emissions by approximately 1.7 million tonnes per year. #CSP #ConcentratedSolarPower #SolarThermal #EnergyStorage #LongDurationStorage #RenewableEnergy #CleanEnergy #EnergyTransition #SolarPower #NetZero #GreenEnergy #ChinaEnergy #CSPProject
