We had the pleasure of hosting the webinar “Opportunities in the Power Sector with GNA”, where we explored Brazil’s evolving energy landscape and the strategic role of natural gas, LNG infrastructure and flexible generation in supporting the country’s growing electricity demand. We were pleased to welcome Luiz Carlos Rodrigues Junior, Head of Strategy, Business Development & Innovation at GNA , and Kevin Pedrosa, Senior Energy Analyst at the EIC (Energy Industries Council), who shared insights on the current market landscape, power generation trends, supply chain opportunities, regulatory challenges and the potential of the Açu Gas Hub. Some key highlights from the discussion: * Brazil is experiencing a significant expansion of gas‑fired and combined-cycle power generation, with capacity expected to grow from 7.47GW to 23.01GW in gas-fired plants and from 12GW to 51.18GW in CCPPs by 2036; * Data centers are becoming a major new source of demand worldwide, Brazil is also consolidating itself as Latin America’s largest hub, with 26.3GW in grid‑connection requests and firm capacity needs that create opportunities for natural-gas‑fired generation; * The Açu Gas Hub presents a long-term strategic opportunity, with planned expansion including additional LNG storage (up to 900k m³), increased regas capacity (40 MMm³/day), pipelines such as GASOG (46 km) and GASINF (102 km), and new power projects (GNA III, IV and V). * Power sector CAPEX in Brazil totals US$50.3bn by 2036, led by nuclear, gas‑fired and CCPP developments, with 69 major projects tracked nationally, reinforcing the market’s long-term demand for equipment, EPC services, and grid‑related solutions.
