RIP Energy Transition ?? Recent remarks at CERAWeek highlight a clear shift in US energy policy, with the focus moving away from the “energy transition” narrative toward what officials describe as an energy dominance strategy. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said the administration is accelerating oil and gas development by cutting red tape, speeding up permitting, and expanding lease sales on federal lands and offshore areas to boost domestic production as quickly as possible. The government is encouraging higher crude output, more natural gas for power generation and data centres, faster LNG export growth, and new infrastructure projects, including those linked to Alaska’s gas resources. Environmental review timelines for major energy projects are also being significantly reduced to support faster investment decisions. Strong participation from majors in recent Alaska lease sales signals renewed industry confidence and expectations of a more investment-friendly climate. At the same time, the US is prioritising domestic mining and critical minerals supply to strengthen energy security and support emerging technologies such as AI. Overall, the message is clear — energy security, supply growth, and technological leadership are once again at the centre of US policy. #energy #oilandgas #energysecurity #lng #upstream #CERAWeek #energytransition #AI #mining #geopolitics https://lnkd.in/gWNecQ43
