WORKING TOGETHER, WINNING TOGETHER I have been with my Present Company just about two months, and I have already experienced something remarkable - a testament to the power of teamwork. As a newly employed Mine Operations Training Coordinator, I met my boss, the HST Superintendent, for only a few hours before he left for vacation. Despite the brief encounter, I was struck by his attention to detail. After completing all my safety inductions and HR formalities, I went straight into the mine, operating various heavy mining equipment (HME) to get familiar with XCMG machines. My background in Caterpillar and other brands helped me adapt quickly. One day, I received an email, asking if I could train on mobile cranes. I responded affirmatively, unaware that the comapny had three mobile cranes, standing with no operator, no Trainer, and no rigger onsite. The company had been relying on a Chinese company for lifting operations at a cost. My response sparked a chain of events. A bus driver with little knowledge on Mobile Cranes from his previous job, had approached our Engineering & Maintenance Manager, seeking to be trained as a mobile crane operator. He became my first trainee. With support from the team, we tried to get some guidance from the Chinese, because we were all new to the Chinese cranes, but they claimed they weren't trainers and could not offer any assistance in Training. Undeterred, I worked with the HST team, to obtain Mobile Crane manuals. I studied the operations section, gaining valuable insights. I, invariably, received videos and other training materials on mobile crane training from all angles. Armed with enormous wealth of information, added to training materials from my previous jobs, I developed a comprehensive training package. We eventually gained access to the 30-ton and 200-ton Mobile Cranes. Thanks to the team's support, TEDROS ARON the bus driver from Eritrea, is now the company's first mobile crane operator. It's a testament to the team's willingness to collaborate and support new initiatives. Thanks to everyone who directly or indirectly helped to make this a reality. I will equally use this opportunity to thank everyone, especially the HR superintendent, who gave me the opportunity to be part of this great MINING TEAM.
