Today, SoftBank Group CEO Masayoshi Son joined U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick at a groundbreaking ceremony to unveil redevelopment plans for the PORTS Technology Campus in Piketon, Ohio. Masayoshi Son, Chairman and CEO of SoftBank Group Corp., said: “This is the center of our superintelligence, so it’s a truly exciting and historic day.” As part of this unique public-private partnership, SoftBank Group and SB Energy are planning to build 10 gigawatts of new power generation, including 9.2 gigawatts of natural gas generation, that will connect to the local grid and provide power to a new 10 gigawatt data center. Together, these efforts will help build the energy and AI infrastructure needed for the future. The event also marked the launch of the Portsmouth Consortium, which brings together leading Japanese and U.S. companies, including major suppliers and financial institutions, to help advance this large-scale power generation and AI infrastructure initiative.
