I am pleased to share the successful completion of a major top end overhaul on a Waukesha VHP Series L7044 GSI gas engine (1900 BHP). In my role as an operator, I supervised and coordinated this activity to ensure the work was carried out safely and in accordance with OEM standards and site procedures. Scope of work included: • Inspection and cleaning of all cylinder heads • Removal of carbon and ash deposits from pistons and liners • Inspection and cleaning of push rods • Inspection and cleaning of exhaust manifolds • Inspection and cleaning of turbochargers • Inspection and adjustment of waste gate, bypass, and throttle gate actuators • Inspection of jacket water and auxiliary water pumps, including gear backlash measurement and adjustment • Refurbishment of jacket water and auxiliary coolant thermostat housings • Refurbishment of the oil thermostat housing • Inspection and cleaning of the intercooler • Inspection and adjustment of the fuel FCV • Initial and final fuel setup calibration • Valve lash adjustment • Compression testing of all cylinders • Engine manually cranking to purge cylinders prior to startup • Verification of crankshaft end play • Measurement of crankshaft web deflection This work reflects strong teamwork, coordination between operations and maintenance teams, and strict adherence to safety and technical standards.
